Poc

Poc

Poc a Poc is a philosophy familiar to this part of the world.

Broadly translated to 'little by little'. A recognition that great things can happen in an unhurried way.

Poc a Poc is also the name of our house - a space in the world where friends can share in this philosophy.

ABOUT US

The places we have lived have been defined by their difference. Places that are not immediately obvious, on the fringes or in hard to find locations.

Poc a Poc is a middle ground. A close community with the influence of the new and the different. Resolutely in the mountains but with one eye to the sea. Quiet, peaceful and slow, but close enough to life and vibrancy of bigger cities.

It is also an open house. A place for sharing ideas, experimenting with a slower life and offering space for reflection.

ABOUT THE PLACE

Llosa de Camacho,

Valencian Community

Spain

La Llosa de Camacho is known for lemons, and not much else!

It is a small, traditional village hundreds of cyclists pass every day. A place on the road to many of the better known destinations in this area. A bonus, therefore, in that it has kept a humble personality. A place where old people still stop, sit down on benches and share the news of the day. A place families return to in the warmer months to sit outside as the day cools. A place that has captured the curiosity of those not originally from here.

The House

01

02

The house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a small garden with some fruit trees that we have planted. Given its south facing orientation, it is remarkably light filled and warm.

There is an upstairs balcony with views of the mountains, a perfect nook to enjoy a meditative coffee. The Serra del Castellet de la Solana (a limestone ridge that runs from Pedreguer to the pass where shepherds would traditionally cross their herd over into the next valley) serves as a backdrop.

03

The internet is quick and perfectly suited to remote working. We have purposely set up a number of nooks where one can work standing up, sitting down or looking out over the hills.

04

The house is decorated with an eclectic mix of things we have found both locally and further afield.

Our mantra has always been to support local producers, prioritise organic and use mindful materials.

All sheets are full cotton or linen.

The house is stocked with a good selection of cookware, herbs, spices and other culinary goodies. The local area is a reflection of the abundance of the Mediterranean, with ripe citrus fruits, organic almonds and innovative farm-to-table cured meats.

05

Poc a Poc is perfect for a couple or for a small family. Two couples could also comfortably stay here and the split level set up and two bathrooms gives the requisite degree of privacy.

How to get here

The house is approximately 1 hour away from both Alicante and Valencia airport.

Valencia airport (VLC) is better for European city connections and Alicante airport (ALI) tends to be better for those coming from the UK.

Rental car is the easiest option, otherwise a bus service from either airport to Denia or Pedreguer with Alsa (www.alsa.com.es) and then a taxi to the house (approx 30 euros).

Public transportation in the area is ok but not amazing - there isn't a well developed bus network and a rental car is probably the easiest. You are also welcome to stock up on your first day and enjoy the time isolated from the world...
